Embers of Rage

Each one of us has a flame
That smolders deep inside
For some it burns brightly
Blazing a trail for all to see
For others it remains hidden
A barely visible well kept secret
My flame still burns strong
But now without a cause
No longer with a direction

Inside I am consumed with anger
A short temper lit like a fuse
A cascade flows out of control
With no target in it's sights
Ready to release it all
Unfocused resentment
Held against no person
A sense of injustice
Looking for a release

You must keep this flame in check
Or a fiery fury will engulf you
An explosion of unfocused rage
An inferno without a purpose
An unconstrained eruption
Detonating for no reason
Snowballing from nothing
Mushrooming into pure hatred
To consume you from within
